Building a Salad

An Interactive Storyline Demonstration

Demonstrating instructional design functionality without proprietary content

Format & tools: Articulate Storyline, Camtasia

Time: 4 mins

How to Build a Salad is an interactive Articulate Storyline demo created to showcase my technical authoring skills while protecting the confidential and proprietary nature of my healthcare training work. Rather than sharing internal projects, I developed a simple, familiar learning interaction that demonstrates how I create engaging, learner-centered experiences using Storyline.

The demo invites learners to build a salad by dragging and dropping ingredients into a bowl. While the topic is lighthearted, the interaction reflects the same design thinking and technical approach I use in professional learning projects: creating clear instructions, designing intuitive user interactions, and giving learners an active role in the experience.

I designed and built the project from start to finish in Articulate Storyline, using drag-and-drop functionality, triggers, layers, hidden objects, and interactive feedback. Each element was intentionally programmed to respond to learner choices and reveal content at the appropriate moment, creating a polished and engaging experience.

This project is not intended to represent a real healthcare workflow or training topic. Instead, it serves as a safe, accessible demonstration of my ability to translate instructional ideas into functional eLearning interactions. It also reflects how I use Articulate Storyline (and Rise when appropriate) to create learning that is more than informational: it is active, intuitive, and memorable.
